WHO ARE WE
We are women. A group of ordinary women going about our every day lives. Over the years we have watched World events unfolding with horror; the atrocities, local crime figures, war, anger, hatred; starvation, poverty and disease; mankind’s destruction of our planet, and the effects of global warming.
Like many others we have felt saddened, frustrated, and completely helpless in our ability to do anything.
As individuals, how could we possibly have any influence, or make any difference at all in helping to stop the suffering and destruction?
It was this feeling of helplessness that led to the formation of Women 4 World Peace. A group of like-minded women who got together and built on one small idea - what if we CAN make a difference? Together. What if we sent a message across the internet, calling upon a potentially strong and powerful network of women to help make the world a better place?
Not aimed solely at women, for women; but merely focusing on women as a messenger, and strong influencer, to pass on an important message (since we are very often the ones more likely to send on an emotive message), about how we can all participate in making this world a better, more peaceful place to live; Now, in this lifetime, for the benefit of our children and loved ones. How even small changes within each of us, can make a difference.
Women 4 World Peace
It is our vision to harness the power of the internet to reach out across the Globe with a quest to influence other women to join us, to spread the word, and make a stand to help our World.
To send on our message, by word of mouth or email, to join us; to participate in the International Day of Peace celebrations across the globe on September 21, or to join in our w4wpAlert Email Lobby Campaigns (Read more about volunteering to be a w4wp Country Co-ordinator)
To inspire everyone who hears our message - young, old, male, and female, towards peace and loving kindness; to embrace compassion, to respect life, and to live in harmony with our planet and one another. To rise above our national identities, politics, religion and ideologies. To celebrate our cultural diversities rather than using them as a reason for conflict.
We want you to join us! To believe that we can all make a difference, each and every one of us, with very little effort...... How often have you been sent a funny, naughty or thoughtful email and sent it on to your friends? What if you could send a different kind of email? An email that could make a difference. What if you could use this powerful tool to make a difference for good?
We all have busy lives juggling work, families, friends and more. No matter how much we may wish to make a grand effort for peace, for many of us it may be not possible. But making a small effort, and adding this to that of thousands of different people across the world, WILL add up to one HUGE effort, which may just well be heard!
We ask you to consider joining us in our effort to be heard. To add you voice to a growing mass of consciousness calling for a more peaceFULL world.
Women 4 World Peace believe that in our strive for world peace, unity is strength, knowledge is power and YOUR participation really can make a difference.
So please join us, in whatever capacity, whether male or female, in whatever way is within your power to assist!
WHO ARE WE
We have reached a crucial point in our World’s history. There is such turmoil in the World at present, and such vast disparity: – war, anger, fear and hatred; tremendous wealth, terrible poverty, famine, and disease. It is time to wake up and realise that each and every one of us has the ability to participate in some way, and has a responsibility to help save our World! Read more

In order to commemorate the United Nations International Day of Peace on September 21, 2006, a small gathering was held in Mallorca for the soft lauch of women4worldpeace.com. This was the very first of many that we anticipate will be organised in the name of Women 4 World Peace in the forthcoming years.
Our main focus for our events in the future will be to pass on a peace consciousness amongst our friends, community and contacts across the globe; a realisation that we can all make a difference in spreading peace throughout the world; in some way; in our lifetime.
We are currently in our soft launch period, during which time we will be concentrating on building up the website content, and our database of contacts.
Once we have completed most areas of the site we will officially launch it to our global audience, with the deadline of December 1, 2006.
We thank you for your patience and for your interest in Women 4 World Peace. If you have any feedback you wish to share, or any ideas for participation in your region we would be delighted to hear from you. Please email amandajbutler@w4wp.com.
Please list us in your favourites and come back then. We look forward to your return.

ABOUT US
May all women everywhere, regardless of age, colour, creed or nationality, work together to help influence and create peace amongst all peoples on earth - to help light up the world with LOVE! Let us make time for this vision of peace to manifest and create a new, saner, safer, more loving world for all of humanity for now, and for our children, and our children’s children.
To have LASTING peace we must first have LOVE.
‘There is no greater sickness in the world today than the lack of love. We must be the change we wish to see in the world.- Mahatma Gandhi
Upon greeting a stranger, look into their eyes and smile; a warm sincere greeting, one soul to another, and you will see and feel the difference. Let us discover the love that exists within each one of us. Learn to see with your hearts. Feel for others as you feel for yourself. Look at others and see yourself. Practice understanding and tolerance of how others live, their belief systems and their feelings. Learn to forgive!
We are all part of one vast energy field. What we do to others and to the planet can, and will, reflect upon ourselves. So love yourself first, and then give love to others, and our beautiful planet which is in danger of giving up on us unless we do more to help it.
At this moment when most of the world appears to be hating and fighting, and Mother Earth is crying with the pain of her destruction, it is the female essence which is needed to help balance and harmonize men and women alike. So let’s get to work and use our feminine influence to create a new and brighter, future for ourselves and our children.
What child wants fighting between their parents? What child wants to watch only bad news on T.V? What child wants to see their Daddy or Mummy go to war?
It is time to stand up with integrity and be counted. To stand up against war, injustice and oppression, to promote co-operation and harmony, and most of all love, and to add your voice to a potentially powerful lobby across the globe.
So think on it, start to practice a more peaceFULL approach to life (read more in our 10 point plan for peace) at home, with friends, in your own businesses, with all people of all nations. Make Peace in all areas of your personal life! Lets stand together, make the change, and also demand change!
‘We did not weave the web of life, we are merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web we do to ourselves’- Red Indian chief
This is what 10 year old Marco from Bulgaria has to say about it all.
‘Open the eyes of your heart and solve your problems in a new way! You believe it will take years or lifetimes to solve things like hunger, disease and violence.
Is it possible that it is simple and that your need to see it as complicated has always been the very thing that has kept you from the answer?
DON’T FIGHT, FORGIVE!
WAR COSTS, PEACE IS FREE!
LET GO OF FEAR AND LET THE LOVE IN!
It’s easy, let’s do it! Just make a conscious effort to take the next step, and together we can make a difference…… Read More (Link to How can I make a difference - the 10 point plan to a more peaceFULL life)

WHAT WE DO
At the soft launch of the Site on September 21, 2006 in Mallorca, Spain, our first email on behalf of women4worldpeace.com was sent out over the internet, across the Globe.
Over the next few months we will be continuing to focus on the process of building up our network of contacts, and to developing the website content further to ensure it becomes a useful, educational and informative tool.
We are starting small, but aim to grow rapidly over the next year or so; with your help and contribution!
Commencing primarily as a vehicle to spread a message of peace into the consciousness of our friends, acquaintances, and network of contacts, we believe that our site will naturally evolve as we progress.
Our aim is to build on this foundation, and to add to it a w4wpAlert Lobby Campaign, which can be managed in all parts of the Globe by local w4wp Country Coordinator volunteers; To work to mobilise popular support to lobby politicians, key decision makers and governments where important decisions that effect the natural balance of our world are at stake.
Our objective is to become a powerful voice across the Globe, echoing your voice and hopes for the future. Women 4 World Peace is also planning to become a charitable trust foundation to aid and assist in areas of need, for differing causes around the World.
If you would like to find out more about being a w4wp Country Coordinator, would like to give us any feedback, or make a contribution to the website, please email: amandajbutler@w4wp.org.
Thank you for your interest and support, and please, spread the word!
International Day of Peace
Peace begins with me………
Background
In 1981 the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 36/67 declaring an International Day of Peace. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a new resolution 55/282 declaring 21 September of each year as the International Day of Peace.
The resolution: "Declares that the International Day of Peace shall henceforth be observed as a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, an invitation to all nations and people to honour a cessation of hostilities for the duration of the Day....
"Invites all Member States, organizations of the United Nations system, non-governmental organizations and individuals to commemorate, in an appropriate manner, the International Day of Peace, including through education and public awareness, and to cooperate with the United Nations in the establishment of the global ceasefire.”"
As Kofi Annan, the Secretary General of the UN, has said "It is an opportunity for all of humanity to take a stand for peace on Earth. Let us all join in a Minute of Silence that will circle the globe at 12 noon in each time zone, in silent prayer, positive thought or meditation for world peace."
Women 4 World Peace
To commemorate the United Nations International Day of Peace women4worldpeace.com was launched on September 21, 2006.
It is our goal to:
-Help the Global Community to recognise that peace begins with ME.
-Appeal to the women of the world to unite to help spread the message amongst our menfolk, and other women and children, that we can all play a part in helping the world to become a more peaceFULL place. (How can I make a difference - read more)
-To help to create awareness of the International Day of Peace through the power of the internet, amongst our global network of contacts, and in any other way possible, with your help!
24 hours is not a long time, “But it is... long enough to look over the barricades, or through the barbed wire, to see if there is another path.” - United Nations
The United Nations International Day of Peace
We now ask that you join Women 4 World Peace on the International Day of Peace to:
-Help create awareness of the International Day of Peace

-Help unite the strength of individuals, organisations, and projects into a cohesive movement to make Peace a greater reality for future generations.
-Join the worldwide movement for change, to create a Global Ceasefire, and day of peace and non-violence.
With more than 1100 separate events in over 187 countries in 2006, we ask your help to raise awareness, and your own community’s consciousness about peace, the importance of going about our daily lives with a more peaceFULL attitude, and the importance of taking part in the International Day of Peace for next year, and future years to come.
For together, we can help influence another, and another, and another..........
together we can all make a difference!
“For, if the world can live in peace for one day, we can learn to solve our problems peacefully together, one day at a time” – United Nations
How Can I Participate?
Start by asking those amongst your immediate family and friends to join others across the Globe in a Minute of Silence on September 21 at 12 noon, in whatever time zone they may be, together in thought and consciousness for peace and non violence - in our homes, schools, businesses, or street corners, wherever you are.
IMAGINE the power of people around the world focusing attention like a laser beam from the heart on one common goal – May Peace Prevail on Earth - Kofi Annan
The International Day of Peace (from hereon called Peace Day) serves to remind us that our commitment, above all interests or differences of any kind, should be to Peace, in our hearts, minds and every day lives.
It also provides an opportunity for all of us to find other ways to help raise the consciousness of those around us, by getting involved in various activities to help share the spirit of peace in our homes, and within our communities during the countdown to Peace Day.
Here are some examples of other ways to participate:
• Home - Hold a Peace Party. Invite friends to join you for dinner or drinks, and hold one minute of silence in a common commitment to Peace.
• School(s) - Gets your children’s school(s) involved. Ask the Head or Principal, to hold one minute of silence at 12 noon on the 21st. Peace Day discussion groups can also be organised, where students get an opportunity to express their ideas about Peace and how to accomplish Peace. Various Activities can also be organised – read more
• Places of worship - organise a Peace Day Prayer and/or meditation.
• Musicians - Musicians or other performers can dedicate their work on September 21 to Peace.
• Governments or Businesses - Ask your Mayor, other government representatives, or Company executives to declare an official Day of Peace on September 21.
• Individuals – Take the Women 4 World Peace Pledge. Write letters to local newspapers about International Day of Peace and/or other issues related to Peace. (See http://www.internationaldayofpeace.org/letters.htm.)
• Groups – Get your Club, Association or Group to hold a Peace Day Party or Event. Get your community involved, preferably in a public place. RELIGION
Ridgid thinking is not conducive to growth. Many people still succumb to the teachings of others to the exclusion of all else. It is important to keep an open mind and allow for your cherished beliefs to be challenged in the light of alternative reasoning. Be ready to accept a new version of the truth even though it conflicts with your own. When we explore other religions and belief systems we can see many similarities and we realize that there is more than one way of looking at things and that they can all be right in their own way. Oriental thought systems for instance tend to be less linear, less straight line, having more diffused and abstract qualities which are more capable of holding many contradictory concepts simultaneously. As a result Oriental thinkers or scientist can see a broader connectedness to events that would be confusing and a puzzle for many left brained Westerner. The Westerner’s objective approach proceeds according to the rules of classic logic but they have difficulty creating new perceptions or broader constructs relating to the nature of reality itself.
When you change the way we look at things. The things you look at change! (Dr. Wayne Dyer)/
Most religions of today, including some of the more evolved ones, tend to lean towards separation and tell us not to mix disciplines i.e. "This is right. This is wrong! This is sinful This is holy!" Wars have even been fought for thousands of years over whose God is the real God!
Most of the great teachers and Masters from all religions and belief systems bring us the same message LOVE, WISDOM, SELF EMPOWERMENT, and CONNECTING TO NATURE AND THE COSMOS and that we should LIVE these qualities, not just preach them. Despite this we have shunned and denied the factual basis of countless ancient myths, buying instead knowledge of black and white magic. The West enthusiastically embraces dogmas that were rife with discrepancies and self contradictions. This was the result of both misinterpretation of the ancient wisdom and politically motivated meddling for power and gain.
THE SPIRIT OF THE ANCIENTS
To the modern mind ‘the ancient civilizations’ use of nature to harness the forces of nature may seem superstitious. Those people who worship mountains or trees have often been described as primitive. In reality they were simply reaffirming the powerful energies contained in nature and how humans are connected to them. The same goes for traditional magicians and sorcerers. They can be seen as technicians working with the laws of the universe rather than those of western science.
More recently an awareness of these laws and energies has entered our consciousness once again. We are becoming more aware of our relationship to the living BEING that IS our Planet, to the sun, the moon, the star constellations and the cosmos in general. We are delving into those mysteries as did the ancient Egyptians, Red Indians, Mayans and many others, with their links to the natural world and to the star constellations of Pleades, Ursa Major and Sirius, and learning how we are all connected to them and to each other.
Many scientific discoveries of the 20th century - the concept of relativity, chaos theory, the existence of parallel universes, were predicted by Shamans and scholars of all belief systems thousands of years ago. If you want to delve further into the Quantum field of physics you can see how these predictions are beginning to describe a proven reality. Our history teaches us that modern societies are civilized, and that the further back in time one goes the more primitive and uncivilized human life becomes. The prejudice stems largely from the 19th century evolutionary theory and is now being superseded by realization that many ancient civilizations had profound and highly developed spiritual and physical systems. Perhaps more surprising, it is now clear they pioneered sophisticated technologies, indeed it is arguable that they had a better understanding of reality and of all of humanity than we do today! Many of these values still exist and have survived in the so called ‘primitive’ belief systems and societies. The people of the past had psychic and spiritual facilities that seem to have disappeared in modern humanity. There is no doubt that they were able to maintain an environmentally and sustainable lifestyle over long periods of time. Ancient people had what we lack and yearn for today – a deep connection with life, giving cycles of the natural world and with the cosmos. In all of the ancient belief systems and religions there is an awareness and recognition of an intangible spiritual realm and a belief in life after dead and reincarnation, alongside our everyday world.
The widespread discovery of archaoeastronomical sights in New Mexico, South America. Ethiopia, China and the Middle East show that not only was star gazing a practical activity that guided sailors across the seas and showed farmers the right time to plant crops, but that it underlined mans and woman’s connection with universe, and that the earth is a microcosm of a larger cosmos. We still build our observatories to watch the stars in order to find out what they can tell us about our past and future. What has changed is the way we look. Now we look scientifically rather than intuitively or for spiritual understanding. We seem to have lost the ability to see the outer limits of the universe as an extension of our immediate environment as the Ancients did.
Apart from the belief in a spiritual realm, life after death and a connection to Gaia/Mother Earth and the cosmos as whole , many of these religions and belief systems including Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, the Chinese I ching and Tao systems, Sufiism, and the folk lore of Red Indians, Celts, Egyptians, Mayans, Aztecs, Incas, Africans and Aborigines have many more similarities that point to the fact that they originally came from the same source- the one universal all knowing energy.
SYMBOLISM – is prevalent in most belief systems and religions. CROSSES are a powerful symbol . We have the Christian cross, the Celtic cross, the Ethiopian cross, the Rosicrucian cross, the ancient Ankh cross of Egypt amongst others. TREES are a powerful spiritual symbol in ancient mythology as well as more recent religions .The tree of life is a key symbol in the Kabala the mystic section of the Jewish religion. The Celts associated a tree with each of the 13 lunar phases. The Norse people like the Celts and Red Indians, Japanese and Chinese also revered trees. They all believed in the sacredness of the natural world. And along with the Egyptians, Mayans Incas and Aztecs all worshipped the SUN and the MOON which are also very spiritual symbols.
CANDLES are also used frequently to signify the LIGHT which links us through meditation and prayer to the LIGHT used to signify that which leads us to enlightenment and the higher energies.
MEDITATION is another thing that links belief systems and is a long proven approach to self knowledge, self awareness and self realization, in the modern day Christian religion experienced in the form of prayer but Buddhism has developed it in its highest form and has inspired its introduction into the modern world. It is anything that allows us to concentrate or focus our mind, to let go of distractions and exist fully in the present moment. It is particularly attractive as an antidote to modern materialism and spiritual emptiness. The regular practice of meditation brings a wide range of benefits through its influences on the mind. It reduces brain activity and creates a sense of relaxation and calm, regulates blood pressure and reduces stress,
VIZUALIZATION or image work is closely associated with this. It involves the conscious process of creating images in the mind for spiritual and transformative processes. It is an ancient procedure and a part of many systems of belief. Elaborate visualization for instance was central to Tibetan Buddism. It is an activity in its own right and, sometimes referred to as creative visualization or manifestation. It has bought increased success, fulfillment and happiness to thousands of people.
SACRED STONES AND MONUMENTS
The Egyptians, Incas, Mayans and Aztec all served their deities with great pyramids planned according to advanced mathematical principles and finished with intricate stone masonry. They served both as temples and astronomical observatories and have since been recognized as sources of magnetic energy. They formed a symbolic model of the universe for ritual and devotional use. They played a central part in the lives of people in those times Pyramids are to be found in many other parts of the world also to suggest that there was some sort of link between these ancient civilizations and their belief systems despite the magnitude of geographical distance between them. The Great Pyramid at Giza in Egypt which is probably the largest and most enigmatic structure ever created by humankind, was thought to generate energy and create a kind of launch pad for astral projection especially to the star constellation Sirius. Some authorities believe that this may have been constructed by using Sonics, the power of ultrasound at high frequencies along with levitation practices, also used frequently by the Tibetan monks in ancient times.
In the same way standing stones and circles are among the most impressive prehistoric monuments in Europe. The greatest of these are concentrated in Britain and northwest France. There are around 100 stone circles in Britain. It is believed they were used for Shamanic rituals and served as open temples. Although the religious beliefs of the builders can only be guessed at, astronomical and seasonal events were undoubtedly important. There are theories that these monuments were highly evolved astronomical observatories. Many of the stones were carefully aligned with the movements of celestial bodies at key point in the year e.g. some were oriented to significant alignments in the stars which were believed to affect the well being of the people animals and crops. Stonehenge and the Avebury complex in the west of England and Carnac in Brittany , France are some of the largest. These sacred sights and stones are often found on ley lines. Ley lines are straight lines linking prominent natural and manmade places of sanctity (e.g. churches and cathedrals) to prehistoric track ways. It is believed they follow natural lines of magnetic energy flowing near the surface of the earth and that ancient civilizations purposely located sacred sights along the lines in order to harness energy. An example is Salisbury Cathedral in England which lies on the ley line which connects Stonehenge with another of other important sights. Significant power places worldwide have long been tapped into for spiritual energies and sacred building such as pyramids churches etc were built on sites previously used for shamanic purposes.
CRYSTALS
Crystals and gemstones embody the age old power of the earth and it was ancient Egyptian Alchemists and magicians who first used them in a systematic way for healing, transformation and spiritual enhancement. This inherent power rather than their esthetics provide the real reason why they wee used in crowns for royalty and religious leaders. Stones with a crystalline structure have special electrical properties, and have been used since prehistoric times in many ancient cultures, religions and belief systems from Aborigines to Hindu people Greeks, Romans, and Celts. Buddhists, the South American Indians and also the Eskimos. Some crystals are transmitters sending out positive energies and some are receivers absorbing negative energies. The high rate of mica or quartz contained in stones to construct sacred buildings (Stonehenge for instance) is believed to be the reason they were used. There is a theory that the lost city of Atlantis which again (along with the great flood after the fall of the city,) comes into many of the stories and writings of ancient mythology, used crystals to generate energy for everything and it was the abuse of this and other things that lead the downfall of its civilization.
REINCARNATION AND LIFE AFTER DEATH
These are also shared beliefs amongst many religions around the world. Reincarnation was first documented in Sanskrit in the Bhagavad-Gita one of the classic Hindu texts. It suggests that the human soul continues to exist after death and must pass through countless other births and deaths until reaching enlightenment. It is a state of transit from one experience to another. It signifies the continuity of all life and finds cultural expression in many traditions amongst them, the early Christians. The Kabalistic Jews, the Sufis and the Muslims as well as the more ancient people like the aborigines and the South American Incas, Aztecs and Mayans and the Red Indians.
Sometimes I tease people and ask; - ‘what makes you think there is no life after death. What proof do you have? What if you found there was a life after this one, having died denying its existence? What would you do then? Aren’t you limiting yourself with your conviction that it doesn’t exist? Doesnt it makes sense to give the possibility of life after death the benefit of the doubt? Why do you think all the major religions believe in life after this one and why have hundreds of millions of people throughout history including the greatest philosophers, sages and creative geniuses of all times from Europe Asia , Middle East and South America lived this belief as an essential part of their lives. Were they all simply deluded? (The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche)
KARMA
The principle of karma is the universal law of cause and effect. It recognizes that as well as their more obvious outward impact all thought and actions have a subtle effect on the perpetrators life. These karmic effects will be appropriate and relevant to the original action. This is recognized in many faiths ‘As you sow so shall you reap’ Just as harmful actions create negative effects, compassionate or beneficial thoughts or actions creatwe positive actions. Some karmic effects manifest themselves immediately, some may not appear for some time and some carry on from lifetime to lifetime. However the emphasis is now shifting from determinisitc explanation of fortune or disaster to the view that individuals can create positive karma for themselves and others. What you think happens! We can create our own reality, we have all the power within us as in the film ‘What the Bleep do We know About Anything ‘ produced by leading exponants in the Quantum field.
THE HUMAN ENERGY FIELD
The ancient wisdom of the Indian subcontinent is at the root of the awareness of the body’s subtle energies and how they can be harnessed. The main forms of the energy body are the aura, the chakras and the meridians which transport the higher energy from the aura around the body and to the Chakras of which there are 7 or 8 main ones or many more depending main ones depending on your belief systems. The meridians are the channels which carry the universal life force energy which is called Chi, Ki, and Prana (again various other names can be used.) around the body. We have several layers of aura which is body of light body that surround us. The human energy field along with colour and light can all be used for well being, healing and transformative purposes The notion of a visible, coloured emanation surrounding the head or body of an enlightened being is common to many religions and spiritual traditions. It is a recurrent theme of religious art from Buddhist through early Greek and roman to Christian disciples where it is known as a halo. Also in the bible prominent figures are regularly appearing surrounded by a body of light.
THE GODDESS
The goddess figure dominates the ancient religions of the Middle East and western Asia. She is the ultimate symbol of the earth and its fertility. She was worshipped under many names but she was or is essentially the creative force in nature responsible for the renewal of life. The name goddesses varied from region to region. Cultural exchange with ancient Greece and Rome took the goddess figure across Europe where she reappeared as The’ Virgin Mary’ a cult that developed within early Christianity .
Although male orientated deities began to eclipse goddess worship, God remained female for many cultures of West Asia, Middle and Far East. There is an emerging belief that the planet having been dominated by an excess of male energy for several thousands of years, it is now time in the Age of Aquarius for the female energy to reemerge and create the balance that is necessary to create a new kind of world where love and peace prevail. There have always been wise women
Who used ancient shamanistic knowledge, herbs and various types of healing and counselling, As Christianity invaded and was dominated by the male dominant Roman Popes, these women were seen as a challenge to often manipulated Christian beliefs and authority. They became known as witches and were buried alive at the stake. The importance of women and the Goddess figure is again remerging with much interest in the fact that women played a huge part in the spiritual teaching of many cultures, including early Christianity where it is thought that Mary Magdalene was not only the partner of Jesus and mother of his child but that she was also a master in her own right and partner with him in his work. In the Hindu religion most of their gods are male and female showing that a balance of the two is the perfection that we desire
LOVE AND REVERENCE FOR ANIMALS
Many belief systems encompass animal wisdom. The Celts believed that animals, birds, fishes had a spiritual connection with humanity. Each creature was considered to have its own set of qualities and were all regarded as sources of guidance, teaching, guardianship and healing. The blackbird was the bird of enchantment; the salmon was associated with wisdom. In much the same way the Red Indians believed that animals as fellow creatures were said to relay healing powers to anyone who could learn from their life pattern. They created the Animal medicine Cards which allow you to be your own elder and divine for yourself or a friend with a personalized reading to find your nine totem animals that represent your own personal medicine. In India the cow is revered and the Egyptians consider the Scarab beetle to be dedicated to RA the sun god, a symbol of eternal life and a lucky charm of protection.
All these similarities within our cultures and belief systems should surely make us realize that there must be some truth in all of them and that their origins are possibly from the same source, and that perhaps this universal all knowing life force energy which quantum science is exploring and accepting is something that is universal and part of a unity consciousness that is within all of us and all of nature and the cosmos and that it is not a linear concept, therefore it has no end and is infinite. This should be an encouraging and uplifting thought to help us release our fears and create a world of love and peace for our children and future generations. We need to understand that we have within us the wisdom and the ability to create such a world by our thoughts and actions of love, peace and harmony.
‘And the time will come when you will see we’re all one, and the life flows on within you and without you.’ (George Harrison)
You are, Therefore I am (Sartish Kumar)
‘We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness’
‘If you are a poet, you will see clearly that there is a cloud
Floating in this sheet of paper. Without a cloud, there will be no rain;
Without rain the trees cannot grow; and without trees we cannot make paper.
The cloud is essential for the paper to exist. If the cloud
Is not here, the sheet of paper cannot be here either!
(Thich Nhat Hanh)

WHY NOW
War and Hatred
When are we going to understand the futility of war and realise (as Dr Martin Luther King did) that Peace is a civil right which makes other human rights possible. Peace permits our continued existence. Non violence is the weapon of the brave. So lets forget ALL our differences, look past colour, creed and religion (link to different religions – “under construction”), and realise that we are all ONE, the same in flesh and blood. Come together as one Planet to embrace and demand peace, to ensure a wonderful future of Love not War, for ourselves and our children!
The Earth’s Destruction
Mother Earth is crying with the relentless destruction of her planet. And We are the main contributors, turning a blind eye to;- chemical pollution of the planet, un-ecologically sound business practices, non environmentally friendly farming methods (including battery farming for maximum profits and genetically modified vegetables that destroy nature’s correct balance); the pollution of our air, waters, seas and soils; deforestation; and the devastation of most of our natural resources. All of these have a huge effect on Global Warming and the devastation of the Planet as a whole. Read more (link to the 10 point Plan – under construction)

WHY NOW
We have reached a crucial point in our World’s history.
There is such turmoil in the World at present, and such vast disparity: – war, anger, fear and hatred; tremendous wealth, terrible poverty, famine, and disease. It is time to wake up and realise that each and every one of us has the ability to participate in some way, and has a responsibility to help save our World!
“We have to BE the change we want to see” – M Ghandi
WHY NOW
Women 4 World Peace believe that each and every one of us can make a difference, to help save our planet from it’s current self destruct mode. So please join us, in whatever capacity, whether male or female, in whatever way is within your power to assist! So please read more about how you can make a difference.
WHY NOW
Natural Disasters
We have experienced some of the worst natural disasters of our lifetimes in recent years. Earthquakes, tidal waves and hurricanes have wiped out vast numbers of people, sadly some of our most vulnerable communities, causing endless sorrow and devastation. These ‘wake up’ calls from nature must be listened to and acted upon if we are to sustain life on earth.
Wealth and Poverty
Huge disparities separate the peoples of the world; the “West” being highly developed, believing itself to be highly evolved, technologically advanced, highly intelligent, and generally wealthy. And yet we allow many peoples of the developing World to live in extreme poverty, and die of starvation and disease. One aspect of peace-making is to alleviate these conditions that breed despair, violence and resentment.

Women 4 World Peace wants you to join us to help celebrate The International Day of Peace – 21 September.
Peace starts with Me, & YOU, & US….!
The International Day of Peace provides an opportunity for individuals, organisations and nations to create practical acts of Peace on the shared date of September 21 each year. Women 4 World Peace intend to spread the message of the importance in participating in the International Day of Peace annually, to highlight the Decade for a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World, from 2001 to 2010.
First celebrated in September 1982, the International Day of Peace brought together more than 2000 organizations in 2006, with over 3500 events in 200 countries, mobilizing what UNESCO has called The GLOBAL MOVEMENT FOR A CULTURE OF PEACE...
Schools
Help us to beat that figure in 2007! Join us, in association with the United Nations:
-To help create awareness
-To help build a Culture of Peace; to embrace compassion, to respect life, and to live in harmony with our planet and one another.
-To join the worldwide movement to create a Global Ceasefire, and day of peace and non-violence.
-To find ways to share the spirit of peace in our homes, in our communities and between nations on Peace Day and during the rest of they year.
As the United Nations state:
For Individuals and Nations, acting in unison, DO make a difference in the quality of our lives, our institutions, our environment and our planetary future. Through cooperation, we manifest the essential Spirit that unites us amid our diverse ways.”
Be seen. Be visible. Let the world know you care about peace.
Suggestions for Schools
What can we do?
There are simple activities that can be incorporated within the curriculum on the run up to Peace Day, such as:
*Organise a Peace Walk - nominate a local or international charity to raise funds for.
*Request a school conflict resolution program
*Hold a debate - or discussion group about peace in one of our world’s biggest trouble spots.
*Art for peace - Youth from around the world to submit any work of art that responds to the question “What does peace look like in your community?” to be displayed at the Peace Day youth events at the United Nations. Artwork may include any style, medium, or size by artists of all skill levels and should be submitted by September 1, 2006 to: Railroad Street Youth Project. (www.internationaldayofpeace.org/youth)
*Make pinwheels for Peace - More than 1350 schools and groups around the world participated last year in the Pinwheels For Peace program to celebrate Peace Day, creating and displaying 1/2 million pinwheels for peace to inspire their communities to imagine whirled peace - This year many more will participate. www.pinwheelsforpeace.com
*International Peace Pals Competition - participate in The 10th Annual International Peace Pals Art Competition and Exhibition, whose winners will be announced at a special ceremony, last year in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. www.worldpeace.org/peacepalscontests.html
*POETRY FOR PEACE
*The Spiral One Day Peace Challenge - Using the popular and simple email technology, Spiraluniverse.org will create the widest e-peace chain on earth, by involving thousands of students, workers and families on the 21st of September in an emailed movie link promoting peace and sharing a prayer for peace. Submit your poetry for peace for the chance to be featured. Sign up to receive the movie link for you and your community. www.spiraluniverse.co.uk.
*Make a Peace Bracelet - The peace bracelet was designed as an affordable way to signify unity and peace with one another. By making and wearing these bracelets, the hope is to bring together people of all ages in the wish for peace, and to signify September 21st as the international day of peace.
The four colors, black, red, yellow and white represent the four directions, the four races of humanity and the wood beads represents sustainability. Any household materials can be used if beads are not available. The wish here is for the makers to be creative and express themselves while also supporting peace.
“These beads cost me two dollars at the dollar store and then I used some elastic from my Mom's sewing kit to tie them together. If you can't find wooden beads at the regular bead store, try the arts and crafts stores. They may be more likely to carry what you are looking for or look around in your drawers at home. “ May peace be with you. By Sudi Baker, Intern for Pathways to Peace
*Perform a Play - http://www.internationaldayofpeace.org/play/index.htm
* Printable stickers for kids - http://www.internationaldayofpeace.org/stickers.html
*YOUTH CHOIR FOR PEACE - The wave of peace: from school to school, choirs and supporters! A Peace activity by a youth choir and singer – worldwide! Your school presents a choir with members of all nations of your school. We sing the peace song: “The beauty of our world” by Freeze 4U You send this calling for peace to another school by email. Get connected with schools worldwide, also on our website. In unity we sing! Refrain: Love and peace united we change the world needs all of us. www.loveandpeace.info
* Letter writing - Write letters for peace. Write letters to your Mayor, Governor and Head of State asking them to declare a Proclamation of Peace for the International Day of Peace. (Don't forget to send them a copy of the sample proclamation). When your Mayor makes a Proclamation, help to organize a Peace Assembly or a Peace Fair where your Mayor can present the Proclamation to your community.
-Write a letter to your Prime Minister or President asking that your leader pledge to heed the United Nations call for a Global Ceasefire on Peace Day.
-Write letters to the editor of your local paper letting your ommunity know about the International Day of Peace.
-Write to musicians you know and ask them to let their audiences know about Peace Day.
-Write to any celebrities or other influential people you might know, asking them to use their spot in the limelight to spread the word about the International Day of Peace on September 21.
Stamp every letter you send out with: PEACE DAY - SEPTEMBER 21
How can I make a difference?
Today is the day to join the path to peace! Today is the day to realise that peace begins with me!
Lets act now, each and every one of us, to shift our allegiance to a world that is free from war and hatred, and change our collective consciousness to bring about lasting Peace. We all have an important part to play!
But let’s be realistic, World Peace is not going to happen over-night! But it is time to start believing that it can happen, that each and everyone one of us has the power to play an important part in this process; to make it happen.
Peace begins with me!
Peace begins with me! Peace begins with you! Peace begins with us!
So lets stand up, be counted and make a difference! Join W4WP and with the power of the internet, together we can become an influential presence, and powerful lobby within our own communities, and around the World, helping to bring peace, harmony and balance to the world.
But the issue of peace is not just about what’s going on elsewhere in the world, on the news, in the newspapers; it not just about combating anger, fear, hatred, and warfare - it is a way of life. It is taking notice of how we all live our lives on a day to day basis, and how we influence those around us. As Mahatma Gandhi stated many years ago:
"You must BE the change you wish to see in the world" – Mahatma Gandhi
Take Action! Start today
To start along the path to peace, we must first look within, at our own individual lives; and then look to how we can influence those within our own family and community. Simple every day actions can help change our world into a better place. We can begin to change our own perspectives, and then inspire others, and together make this a way of life in order to create a culture of peace, working for a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world all year long.
How can I make a difference?
1. Smile
Peace starts with a smile- Mother Theresa
It makes you more approachable and effects your sense of well being. It automatically affects those around and helps to build bridges. When we feel love and peace within us, and live in peace with all our friends, families and neighbours, we can learn to appreciate other peoples points of view, and recognize other peoples belief systems. Only then can Peace have a lasting chance!
2. Think positive
Try to entertain only positive thought, positive news and positive actions in our quest for personal and planetary Peace. Negative influences can and will effect the way we think and act in our daily lives. Turn the news off when you’ve heard the headlines. Try something more educational – dust off those books on the bookshelf; pick up something humorous, exciting or even to enhance your spiritual understanding.
3. Be a positive influence to your children
a. Read to your children. It rewires a child’s brain, speeds up their grasp of language, helps reduce stress and boosts self esteem.
b. Encourage their natural creativity, natural curiosity, and love of nature. Don’t forget to spend time with them. Share meals and communicate with them. They have much to offer!
4. Be aware of how we can help the environment
Stay informed of environmental issues and act in ways that will protect natural resources for ourselves, and future generations.
a. Recycle Did you know? - Recycling a single plastic bottle can conserve enough energy to light a 60W light bulb for up to 6 hours
b. Be energy conscious Did you know? If every household in the Western World installed three energy efficient light bulbs, enough energy would be saved in a year to supply all the street lighting of that country – World Wildlife Fund.
c. Save water Did you know? A five-minute shower uses about 1/3 of the water of a bath. But a power shower can use more water than a bath in less than 5 minutes. – Friends of the Earth.
d. Use environmentally friendly products They may cost more to begin with, but in the end they will cost us far less..... in the long run!
e. Take public transport or share transport Driving a car is one of the most polluting act the average individual commits! Buses are seven times safer than cars and obviously more environmentally friendly. Imagine if everyone with a car took just one bus journey a week how much our carbon emissions would be reduced. A journey shared will also reduce considerably the amount of fuel we use!
5. Exercise, eat better, feel better!
Eat in a healthier, more conscious way, feel better and be happier. Exercise releases natural endorphins in the brain that make us feel more alive, vibrant and happy. Eat less meat, more organic food, and locally grown seasonal vegetables which are better for you, and better for the planet as a whole. LIVE CONSCIOUSLY!
6. Plant a tree
‘The planting of a tree is a gift you can make at almost no cost and trouble and it will far outlive the visible effect of any of your other actions, good or evil.’ George Orwell 1984.
Each one you plant will provide oxygen for two people for the rest of their lives. Spend time in nature and learn to appreciate the beauty of the planet and its natural resources!
7. Fair trade
a. Buy fair traded products. They guarantee to give the real producers a fair share of the profits. It’s all about decent working conditions, local sustainability and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. In many countries like the UK you’ll see all sorts of Fairtrade products in the shops, but if further a-field, why not ask your local supermarket if it’s possible to stock these products.
b. Support your local shops. They are part of the community and have an important role to play. Besides, how convenient is the Supermarket when you just need to nip out for some milk? And if forced to close, who will control the potential monopoly of the Supermarket giants? Think for ourselves. Lets take the power into our own hands and not be controlled or monopolized by governments or huge corporate or media bodies.
8. Love thy neighbour
Well, you don’t exactly have to “love” them, not all of them anyway! But learn to cultivate affection, compassion and mutual respect for all human beings and living creatures. Endeavour to be patient, kind, understanding, Learn to respect others, and their right to have differing views, religions or even behaviour. We are after all the same in flesh and blood.
9. Never act in haste
a. Decisions in anger How often do we regret immediate actions stemming from anger? It’s time we learnt to stem that anger; after all there are always two sides to every story. What is the basis of your anger, or their anger? There is generally a reason for angry behaviour – someone feels they have been let down, betrayed, or there is some natural misunderstanding or miscommunication somewhere. So think before you open your mouth to retort, or before you click that send button on the email. Wait a few hours, and generally the picture will clear, and a solution will come along.
b. Decision making How often have you made a decision based on the first thing that comes into your head? And yet you know deep down it doesn’t feel right. Trust in those innermost feelings. Trust your instinct, your gut feelings – because most often they are right.
10. Take time out
Everyone needs space; Time to be alone. Time to think, to reflect, to regenerate our energies. In the western world we all race around in our every day lives; busy, busy, busy, no time for anything or any one. No wonder we all get ill! Take time out for a short while. Find a quiet place to go, to sit, to reflect. Breath slowly and deeply, and listen to your heart beat, to the sound of Mother Nature around you, to your inner thoughts and desires. Try to give yourself at least 10 minutes a day – you, your family and friends will all gain the benefit!

PEACE MESSAGES
GUIDELINE 4 PEACE
May all women everywhere, regardless of age, colour, creed or nationality, work together to help influence and create peace amongst all peoples on earth - to help light up the world with LOVE! Let us make time for this vision of peace to manifest and create a new, saner, safer, more loving world for all of humanity for now, and for our children, and our children’s children.
To have LASTING peace we must first have LOVE.
There is no greater sickness in the world today than the lack of love. We must be the change we wish to see in the world - Mahatma Gandhi
Open the eyes of your heart and solve your problems in a new way!
Just make a conscious effort to take the next step, and together we can make a difference…… Read More

Together We Can Make a Difference!
Since the soft launch of our website on September 21, 2006, we have been busy focusing on the process of building up our network of contacts, and to developing the website content further to ensure it becomes a useful, educational and informative tool.
We are starting small, but aim to grow rapidly over the next year or so, continuing to spread our message of peace across the globe with the help of our growing support.
Once well established, our aim is to commence a w4wpAlert Lobby Campaign, to be managed in all parts of the Globe by local w4wp Country Coordinator volunteers; To work to mobilise popular support to lobby politicians, key decision makers and governments where important decisions that effect the natural balance of our world are at stake. Please note, we will only be sending out w4wpAlerts when the most urgent of issues are at stake.
Our objective is to become a powerful voice across the Globe, echoing your voice and hopes for the future. Women 4 World Peace is also planning to become a charitable trust foundation to aid and assist in areas of need, for differing causes around the World.
We will be requiring one coordinator, (or coordinator group) from each country, to keep informed and keep up to date with key local policies that that may require the support of a strong lobby to persuade your governments and key decision makers to sit up and listen?
So, would you be interested in volunteering to become a w4wp Country Coordinator? Do you feel you have the ability to coordinate and manage a local Lobby Campaign? To keep yourself up to date with the local press and media?
If you are interested, and think you have the right attitude and abilities, please add your details below.
Your information will be sent to our moderator for approval and you will be contacted to discuss the commitment required. You will be required to speak fluent English, and naturally the native language of your country.

Vision 4 Peace
Our Vision 4 Peace.......Imagine a World…….
-
Where all people one by one shift their allegiance to peace and in doing so influence governments to work in harmony creating dialogue for lasting peace on earth.
Where tolerance and respect for others differing cultures and beliefs is the norm.
Where poverty, homelessness, hunger and lack of adequate
medical care are things of the past and children can flourish with love in healthy communities.
Where a reverence for life is fostered, and spiritual practice is encouraged.
Where governments and all corporate and media bodies work with the spirit of co-operation for the common good of ourselves and the planet and not only for power, and financial gain. Where economic practices are established for all.
Where our working in harmony with nature and our love and respect for Mother Earth encourages us to value and sustain all her resources for ourselves and future generations.
Where all different religions and belief systems are appreciated and encompassed so that we can encourage a spiritual harmonious way of living and the peace within us will bring to the world.
Where our love and appreciation for all that is beautiful in music, the arts and creativity precedes our love for money and materialism.
Where the knowledge and know-how of science and technology enhance all peoples lives of all nations.
Where Mother Earth is respected and her resources utilized by sustainable practices for our own benefit and our future generations.
